Interprofessional Fieldwork Programs

JFRF is Temporarily Suspending International Education Programming

In April 2017, the U.S. Department of State issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Nicaragua which currently remains in effect. This travel advisory strongly urges travelers to reconsider visiting Nicaragua due to political unrest and limited healthcare availability. Widespread protests across Nicaragua are unpredictable and the government’s response to this civil unrest has turned violent with a number of deaths, injuries and disappearances being reported. While JFRF remains committed to serving the elders of Nicaragua through interprofessional fieldwork and other university-based programs, we are temporarily suspending our international education programs. Our top priority is and has always been student safety and we cannot, in good faith, send students to Nicaragua at this time.

Please check back with us regularly for updates on our international education programs. We anticipate accepting applications in early 2019 for fieldwork and clinical internship placement the following year. If you would like to join a mailing list for updates on these programs, please email Beth Mitchell at bmitchell@jfrfoundation.org.

Thank you and we hope you will join us in sending thoughts of support, healing and resolution to the people of Nicaragua.
